I’ve become quite fascinated with and struck by that auctions of art. I really, really like the auction form. It somehow seems like a more refined way of buying and selling to me than the, actually quite pedestrian, habit of just strolling up to the counter in some shop and splashing out a wad of cash. No, I think you appreciate a piece way more if the act of buying it is an art, a game in itself. Just have a look of all these classic movies where auctions play an important part in the plot. You know movies like North by North-West of any James Bond movie basically, where suave or menacing gentleman and fast women casually spend the equivalent to the GDP of a small country in a couple of minutes. Of course I can’t afford to spend the sums a crazed movie villain with an itch for world domination can. But I do like auctions.
